Next stop on this Italian adventure- Portovenere! Venice and Florence are more well known spots but this gem along the Mediterranean Sea is not to be over looked. We chose this beautiful spot because we wanted to end this vacation by checking out the coast and exploring the near by Cinque Terre.
I will discuss our visit to Cinque Terre next week but this post is dedicated to Portovenere because it actually was one of our favorites of the whole trip. We arrived via train to La Spazia from Florence and then took a private taxi to our hotel- Grand Hotel Portovenere. You can also get to the hotel by a short boat ride or bus service.
The Grand Hotel Portovenere was supreme. Everything from the decor to the bedding to the location and views was outstanding. The hotel is right in the center of everything making it easy to walk to all the restaurants and shopping below. A stay here also includes a full breakfast- which you literally can't beat the view from.
Portovenere is perfect because it has enough going on without being over crowded like other Italian coastal areas I have visited such as the Amalfi Coast- which is equally as beautiful just a lot more tourists! There are cute shops to check out and tons of great spots to grab lunch or dinner.
There is tons of history and places to relax here. This is a place you can unwind and just enjoy yourself at the grotto, have some rose at lunch and just take in all the views.
Some sights to explore and not miss include:
If you really want to feel like you are living in an Italian village this is the spot to be. You will see the most magical sunsets, swim in the most beautiful waters and be surrounded by the most amazing mountain and coast line views. The town is lined with yachts from all over the world that make this destination a hot spot for those seeking luxury with a bit more privacy and laid back feel.
Great food, amazing views, gorgeous Mediterranean coast line, history, sunsets and wine all make this place one of my favorite destinations of all time. Check out some photos from our trip below!
Thanks for stopping by y'all! Ciao!
